About Me

Thanks for visiting my site!

Hi! My name is Cara Poulsen, and I like sharks, hiking, and chocolate! I am a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor in Environmental Studies (Honours, Co-op), where my coursework heavily focused on ecology and conservation, and I am currently working as an Aquatic Biologist. During my time at Waterloo, I had the opportunity to study Natural Resource Science at the Haida Gwaii Institute, which reignited my childhood passion for marine biology. Since then, I have completed my undergraduate thesis examining shortfin mako (Isurus oxyrinchus) conservation in the North Atlantic, and am looking to transition to marine ecology/conservation for my masters degree. On this site you’ll find my research interests, CV, and a gallery of wildlife photography and art. Please feel free to send me a message or connect with me on Twitter, LinkedIn, or ResearchGate.

Cheers,

Cara Poulsen
